How Topis iChannel™ Works
In a traditional network, the subscriber must authenticate to access control
equipment. Usually, IP address, DNS and gateway parameters are assigned in this
process. Unless a private gateway or proxy is used, a subscriber's network traffic
is lost in the network cloud.
Value added services can not be implemented without direct access to the network
traffic. Implementing a private gateway is practical only if the service is not
based on wholesale (virtual) access. Proxy configuration on the subscribers PC can
be difficult to maintain, especially one that is application based or not
transparent. The diagram below illustrates a typical implementation without Topis
