Security and Internet access control can sometimes be compromised at the
client by using an outside ISP or tunneling proxy. Topis iChannel™ can prevent
these and many other vulnerabilities. Extensive monitoring and archival features
will give the organization the tools required to enforce usage policies.
Peer-to-peer file sharing, music downloads and any other application specific
communication may be restricted or blocked.

How Topis iChannel™ Works
In a traditional network, the client must authenticate to access control equipment.
Usually, IP address, DNS and gateway parameters are assigned in this process. Unless
a private gateway or proxy is used, a client's network traffic is lost in the network
cloud.
Access control and monitoring can not be implemented without direct access to the network
traffic. Implementing a private gateway is practical only if the service is contain
within a private LAN. Proxy configuration on the client PC can be difficult to
maintain, especially one that is application based or not transparent. The diagram
below illustrates a typical implementation without Topis iChannel™.
